Welcome to the Northern Trail District website of the Three Fires Council. Three Fires council serves a wide span of communities in parts of DuPage, Kane, DeKalb, and Kendall Counties, and serves 11 different districts. Northern Trail District is located in the Northeast corner of the council. It serves the communities of Addison, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park (east), Itasca, Keeneyville, Medinah, Roselle, and Wood Dale.
The district serves approximately 2,000 youth through its Packs, Troops, Crews, Scoutreach, and Special Needs units. District Commissioners are volunteers who are assigned units to serve and make sure they are running well and are there to help units with whatever they need. They are led by a District Commissioner.
For more specific help, units may turn to District Committees who have a more focused knowledge about various Scouting topics (i.e training, advancement, camping, etc.). The committees are led by a District Chairman. Together, the District Commissioner, District Chairman, and District Executive compose the District Key 3 and work to lead the district and help the units and district however they can.

Camp Card Sale
A Scout is Thrifty...He helps pay his own way! The Three Fires Council is pleased to again offer the Council-wide fundraiser...the 2013 Camp Card!
What is a Camp Card? Camp cards are coupon discount cards that can be used in select areas of Three Fires Council and the Chicagoland area. This year we are offering an "East" and "West" card that offer great deals to local and area vendors such as: Plano Molding Outlet, Brunswick Zone, Microsoft Store in Oak Brook, SportsClips, Arby’s, Rosati’s, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Jiffy Lube, Colonial Café, Medieval Times and Ralph’s Car Wash. The intent of the Camp Card sale is to allow Units to raise funds to pay for their Summer Scouting Program. The cards are only $5.00 each, but have savings of appx. $70!
Your unit can checkout and sell Camp Cards from February 1st to March 31, 2013. Units earn 50% commission, or $2.50 per card sold. Units required to turn in remaining proceeds after commission from sold cards April 1st-15th. Commission drops to 25% if turned in after May 1st. The Camp Cards come in sets of 10 cards to an envelope. Camp Cards are ordered by the set. Your unit may reserve sets of Camp Cards online for your Scouts to sell. They will be available for pick-up at roundtables in February.

It’s easy to pre-register your unit to sell Camp Cards in 2013 -
Go to Three Fires Council Website http://www.threefirescouncil.org/index.php/outdoor-camp/camp-card-sale
Camp Card Packets will be delivered to your February roundtable for your Scouts to sell! Overall, Scouts sell Camp Cards and learn how to “earn their way” (self-reliance), and it teaches them the value of planning, organizing, developing and practicing new skills in sales and marketing. The end result – increased self-confidence from achieving personal levels of success.
Scout 2013 Retreat
The Boy Scout Laws include A Scout is Brave & A Scout is Reverent. The Girl Scout Mission Statement reads “Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, & character, who make the world a better place.” Bishop Conlon took as his episcopal motto: "Take Courage." During this international Year of Faith, scouts from throughout the Diocese will gather with Bishop Conlon at the Cathedral to reflect on the theme Scouts Take Courage.
